United States
Rounded National Status Rank: NNR - Unranked
Rounded Global Status Rank: T4 - Apparently Secure
Reasons: Oak of riparian areas and bottomlands that ranges from the Carolinas to eastern Texas but is rare to somewhat infrequent throughout its range. Per Bill Carr, Texas Conservation Data Center: "Not particularly abundant anywhere in Texas, but on the other hand, not all that uncommon."
Comments: Imperiled by loss of bottomland hardwood and alluvial forest habitat on private or commercial forest land where forest management practices (harvest, site prep, Rx fire) also pose a threat (Southern Appalachian Species Viability Project 2002).
